bob Cat so because China has more people they get to set the rules? Sounds good if you want to live under communism, millions have died so we don’t. As for depriving China of a market its already begun,if China wants the cheap seats that’s fine you don’t build empires with tin,you build empires with gold. The west helped China rise by offering up its markets and COVID showed that dependence to be an intolerable mistake, that will be corrected

bob Cat China has the economy of the USA but has to support five times more people, when the world deprives China of a market the ccp will fall or go to war. Let’s hope the fall

richie your showing your ignorance I know many people in the mining industry that have indeed spent their careers in the jungles of the world building projects including Africa. As for how the yuan goes further than the u.s dollar in Africa you would have to do some twisting to explain that one. And quality that to is suspect, all China is doing in Africa is creating debt traps. You do have me on the culture of hard work ethic though. Cheers

richie I agree we need reform, but if you could tell me when the IMF has ever bailed out US banks I would be interested to see your data as for debt for equity that’s just a nice way of saying REPOSSESSION of a strategic port that just happens to counter US bases in the area. I to have travelled extensively in the mining industry, not to Africa but the rest of the world and let me assure you, civil, mining structural etc engineers do indeed go into jungles and sometimes take their family with them. My nieces and nephews have names of cities where they were born from all over the world. As for purchasing power if you think one yuan buys the same in Africa as one US $,we’ll my friend I kindly suggest an economics coarse. You are right I’m free to believe what I want as are you,we obviously look at this from different angles and I look forward to a little more debate if possible Cheers

bob Cat yes if it is to join international organizations they must play by the rules based international system in which the rose to prominence. They have used this system to advance after Mao’s ruinous cultural revolution. But they have not played by the rules, the have kept their society closed while exploiting the west. It’s like helping the poor man get his life together and then he tells you that his way of life was actually better and if you want to live in your house with him you have to start living by his rules. I actually believe that we are merging the concepts of communism and capitalism together and democracy will suffer,it’s happening in our lifetime. I believe it is all a transfer of wealth,China will develop Africa while the west deals with poverty in other regions and war is progress. Multinationals have become arms of the US government, they exploit labour but also drive up the price of labour and improve the lives of the citizens wherever they go,not to mention the many scientific advancements that come with them, including now SPACE TRAVEL. China will now switch to a service economy and multinationals will move on to use cheaper labour in other developing nations and raise their standard of living. I am a long term optimist and see the rambling of the politicians as actors on a stage to keep us divided and occupied while the hard work of poverty eradication goes on. In short This is the winning of the peace that GEORGE C MARSHALL was tasked with in 1944

richie no they experienced a currency crises because of hyperinflation brought on by Marxist kleptocratic governance not because of who lent them the money and they would still be in crisis if the IMF (to which the US is the largest contributor) hadn’t stepped in. I know you’ll say it was the cia that put them in power and we can go back and forth but the world was a huge cesspool before the MARSHALL PLAN but decade by decade world poverty is being vastly reduced. Maybe you can account for that with your anti-American bias. And I know what ppp is and it doesn’t mean shit outside your own borders so give it a rest, are you familiar with GLOBALIZATION

richie as I think I said before its wealth redistribution if you think anybody is made whole when nations teeter on financial collapse and debtors take huge shaves on their investments we will go back and forth forever. I agree with you that China is a competitor and not the friendly nation that the west had hoped for I just see China expanding wealth in one sphere and the west in another but I disagree that China is the power that the media perceives it to be. Companies may spend more on management overseas but the labour and materials are cheaper for the the old greenback is my position and high speed rail is nice and flashy but does it lift the populace out of poverty? It’s in the interest of nobody for China to collapse but China is about to learn you can’t just play by your own rules in an American rules based system. Only time will tell but I think China may be in for a lost decade just like the rising Japanese before them?

bob Cat just sit back and watch old bobby boy. The communist manifesto explicitly says world domination, that’s what NATO on Russia’s borders mean and that’s what the US,JAPAN,INDIA,VIETNAM,THE PHILIPPINES,INDONESIA and even RUSSIA are moving to do to counter an expansionist CCP. The US invited the CCP to their dinner table and the CCP has got drunk and obnoxious at that table and it’s time to go and like a drunk that eventually sobers up the CCP will be the one embarrassed come daylight. Although we have opposite views on this,I have enjoyed the CIVIL debate keep it coming 😊
