Comments by "Jim Gaston" (@jimgaston9863) on "How The U.S. Fell Behind China In The Fight Against Climate Change" video.
I don’t think China is ahead of anybody, they are the world’s number one polluter and their numbers will rise for ten years before they will make any commitments. The U.S has converted to natural gas from coal lowering their emissions. Ones going up ones going down it’s there if you listen close but they do their best to hide it in propaganda

@kl9518 China doesn’t have to manufacture anything,America offered China its market in the 70’s to help it rise out of extreme poverty after Moa’s disastrous cultural revolution and as a counter to the ussr. 50 yrs later it continues to use 65% of all the coal burnt every year because it is the cheapest way to generate electricity. It also continues to use its rivers as garbage dumps that empty into the ocean because it is cheaper and easier than landfills. If China wants to present itself as a super power,it can start by playing by international rules and norms. It has had a 50 yr grace period in the minors but still wants to play in the majors while doing things on the cheap. They can clean up their act,it’s just financially advantageous to keep playing the victim and carry on polluting

@kl9518 look at the world pre 1945 and after and you will see what America has done for the world, sarcasm ISN’T an argument but keep trying 😂
3
@kl9518 China has a 5000 yr history of war and where did it get it in the present, you still can’t argue with the eradication of poverty since the American order took effect after ww2. I don’t believe this to be by accident and expect it to carry on into the future with chinas help by the way
2
@coroner3164 show me any country that can’t be improved on? People immigrant to America not China, that says it all
2
@kl9518 instead of playing games enlighten me and we can laugh together. Sarcasm isn’t debate
2
@HKChineseCanadian all valid arguments but for the fact that China burns 65% of the coal used every year and continues to use its rivers and oceans for waste disposal
2
@tortoiselearner4990 once again insults, I’ve given verifiable facts and the commentariat replies with insults 😂
2
@skygge1006 chinas still using 65% of the worlds coal what part of this discussion don’t you SMART people understand? The rest is great news but it’s window dressing and great marketing but keep up with the insults,it’s the sign of people without an argument
2
@tortoiselearner4990 it is you who should thank the US for lifting you out of abject poverty but maybe they don’t teach history where you are. It was a win for both sides
2
@tortoiselearner4990 or your indoctrination
2
@tortoiselearner4990 well at least we have that in common
2
@wilfredlunge6934 nice thanks for the insults but you can’t change the facts. China is the worlds #1 polluter by a long shot and growing, instead of the clean energy lie,China continues to build coal plants while the world dismantles them. What is disgraceful is that this lie continues to be pushed while China builds 70 coal fired plants per year. This is not leading the way
2
@zhaokwong5544 but it’s an existential threat,we are all going to die!!!!!!!!!! Don’t you hear them,we are supposed to give up all our luxuries and return to the Stone Age. Besides what does that have to do with using coal for electricity and using the rivers and oceans for landfills when mankind now knows better.
1
@nighthunter9162 yes if you check your biases and the internet you will plainly see China is the #1 polluter and growing till at least 2030 while America’s footprint is declining. These are the facts
1
@wilfredlunge6934 how can you say they are making an effort on a large scale just because they lead in wind and solar (dams are another issue) but they continue to lead in construction of coal fired generation plants (70 per yer) and are responsible for 65% of all the coal burnt on the planet every year. Isn’t that just slight of hand. I don’t care if 50% of their generation is clean if the other 50% is coal and that number grows daily for the next 10 years at least. Numbers and makeup matter I really don’t see the disagreement here

@mmmayocide you are just misinformed,a simple google check would tell you that the USA is not the #1 polluter per capita in fact not even close. That honour goes to oil producers with low populations, especially in the Middle East. It also might shock you to find out that the USA is the worlds 2nd largest manufacturer after China. While it would be nice to receive a steady paycheque from Uncle Sam ,this is not the case. I’m just a simple guy stating facts that anybody can check. What is PATHETIC is that you didn’t cross check your propaganda before trying to be witty

@danaliu3295 China is NOT making any changes to lower their carbon emissions, this is just propaganda. If China was building gas plants instead of coal plants it might even be a start but they are not. As I’ve said elsewhere in this thread China uses 65% of all coal burnt in the world every year. I fail to see how you can reconcile the fact that China is exempt from the Paris accords until 2030,builds 50-70 coal generation plants a year while the USA retires theirs for gas fired generation. I agree with the argument that China has a right to cheap power to raise its people out of poverty, where I have a problem is killing western economies to save the planet while China burns 65% of the coal every year and is praised as this supposed GREEN god. It’s just not so. The USA is cleaning up their generation while China continues to use early 20th century technology because it is cheap. If we are on a catastrophic course of possible human demise then coal generation surely cannot be justified under any conditions

@danaliu3295 I gave you facts you give me a joke climate change ranking with 4 or 5 criteria. Try to stay on topic. Dispute my Facts or shut up

@Tussyu2b sure if you say so
