Appears Russia finally realized they spread themselves too thin, thinking that Ukraine would roll over quickly. Looks like a strategic withdrawal to resupply & re-equip, then focus on & secure the easiest region 1st, the Donbas. They're going to have to complete their obliteration of Mariupol; then they can surround Odessa by land & sea, continuing that assault with a relatively small land force, backed by Russian naval assets. They'll need to deploy experienced troops to engage the veteran Ukrainian forces embedded in the central Donbas, while less experienced troops & conscripts renew their attacks from the north & West on Kyiv & surrounding areas. This is a pull back & re-evaluate operation right now, as continued strikes on select targets throughout Ukraine keep the defense forces occupied with the whole country, effectively preventing their consolidation in the East to combat Russia's "stated" offensive. The Ukrainians, therefore, cannot afford to leave any area of the country unguarded. The spring thaw will have some effect, but the Ukrainians will have to deal with it, as well as the Russians. Remember - "The rain falls on the just & the unjust alike.". Random observation - how many more Mariupols & Buchas will we have to witness before the West gets up off its duff & actually DOES something? Pres. Putin's got ALL of Ukraine's allies duckin' & runnin'. They should be ASHAMED of themselves!
