Recently, the Center for Health Security has received questions about whether that pandemic exercise predicted the current novel coronavirus outbreak in China. To be clear, the Center for Health Security and partners did not make a prediction during our tabletop exercise. For the scenario, we modeled a fictional coronavirus pandemic, but we explicitly stated that it was not a prediction. The group "America's Frontline Doctors", a group of conspiracy minded physicians, has been discredited as well. Pathologist falsely claims COVID-19 is a hoax, no worse than the flu. CLAIM: COVID-19 is “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated” and “just another bad flu.” Roger Hodkinson, a pathologist who identifies himself as a former chairman of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, made the comments by phone during a public meeting in Edmonton, the capital of Alberta, Canada. ASSESSMENT: False. Not only is COVID-19 deadlier than the flu, but symptoms last longer, according to medical experts. In October, the platform updated its policies to specifically ban misinformation about COVID-19 vaccinations, vowing to remove videos that contradict "expert consensus" from the World Health Organization or local health authorities. That includes baseless claims that getting the vaccine implant microchips in people's bodies or cause infertility. Social media companies like Facebook and YouTube have ramped up their policies against coronavirus misinformation and banned false claims about Covid-19 vaccines. But as distribution of the vaccines begin, online accounts are exploiting loopholes in new policies and successfully sharing misleading claims that attempt to discourage vaccination.

@spiritseeker2831 The doctors on that list are all Covid crackpots who promote conspiracy theories and misinformation. They have all been discredited by the professional organizations that they were members of or they don't have the education, credentials, or expertise to support their claims.

@EricBlair-jg2ux Snopes is the definitive Internet reference source for researching urban legends, folklore, myths, rumors, and misinformation. As illustrated by many comments, thinking for yourself and then sharing those thoughts on Facebook and Twitter leads to a rabbit hole of misinformation and conspiracy theories. Those who follow conspiracy theorists are certainly not famous for original thinking.

@dwsinclair5282 Following conspiracy theories on either side of the political spectrum is ill advised. The conspiracy theories related to the Capitol insurrection are just getting started. Even some elected officials (Marjorie Taylor Greene) are on the conspiracy theory bandwagon.
