@user-dv1fp1gj7v That’s definitely not true if you eat food. The potash you need to grow your crops comes from Canada.

Donald Trump Accidentally Insults Himself: ‘Who Would Ever Sign A Thing Like This?’ The president recently rebuked a 2020 trade deal known as the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement even though he signed it. Trump praised the USMCA in 2020 as the “best agreement we’ve ever made” and lauded it for replacing the “nightmare” North American Free Trade Agreement ratified under former President Bill Clinton, calling it the “worst trade deal ever made.”

@user-dv1fp1gj7v Trump has made it quite clear that he doesn't understand how tariffs work and who pays for them. The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930 made the Great Depression worse by: Increasing import prices: The act made imports unaffordable for most people, except the wealthy. Decreasing exports: The act dramatically reduced the amount of exported goods. Contributing to bank failures: The act contributed to bank failures, especially in agricultural regions. Encouraging other countries to raise tariffs: The act encouraged every country that traded with the United States to raise tariffs as well. Reducing global trade: The act reduced global trade and slowed down the global economy. Highlighting the dangers of protectionist trade policies: The act highlighted how dangerous protectionist trade policies are for the world economy.
