Yet more bulshit from the critical drinker. It's not about how we treat the female characters it's about how other characters treat them. In "Edge of Tomorrow" our intro to Rita is hella sexy and is explicitly designed to make us go "damn she's hot". But no characters on-screen would dare refer to her or even talk about her like that. We know the actor is hot, other characters know the character is hot, but it's irrelevant to the plot. In fact, her strength as a character is emphasized by the irrelevance of her beauty to her ability to kick ass.

I think the argument is too black and white. Either its all female voodoo or a girly with an apes bod. Women don't need muscle to be strong, but they need more than a body to be a good character. I think Arcane does a spectacular job at writing women who are people before their gender. For instance the punching Powerhouse Vi, who beats the shit out of people. She punches before she thinks, but thats not because she's an angry feminist... she grew up in an environment where you had to fight to survive. Plus, she was in charge of her ragtag siblings, prepped to be a leader by her adoptive father. The difference is that seducing people and then beating them up won't really work for the problems she faces. So, conditions effect character. Black windows tactic works with the conditions of a modern world, and kinda points out the flaws in the men she seduces rather than her seducing. The problem is that marvel is trying to appeal more to kids so they gotta water down characters a bit. She's a morally grey character and that's why she's cool. It's not about being more manly because men exist in different conditions. I think if we want to see a more human side to black window, they could maybe show how she feels about her tactic, make her get fed up and lash out because changing the character without confronting the conditioned behavior washes away the humanity.

@Aaronthegreatest I think what this analysis is missing is the impact having only one woman on screen in these movies has. One girl with one archetype and personality and appearance and that comes to fill the spot for every female, and she cant fit every role. If there were more female characters on screen that have a variety of fighting styles (DONE WELL) i think itd be more satisfying for everyone. Nothing wrong with Scar Jo being a sexy fem fatal type, it looks cool, but making that the only representation doesnt work well for everyone. Spiderman and thor dont have the same appeal you know

@patrickparadis8623 I am team defeminization. Here's why; I am sick to death of seeing ass everywhere, ads, social media, tv, movies..yoga pants! It's too much. Men are inundated with soft porn everywhere we go and it's detrimental to male psychology imo. I would like to live my life on a higher level and not a hedonistic one (I know this is controversial and that is kind of my point). If #metoo proved anything to me its that we should retire the whole concept of sex object.
