Honestly, I think that all this hate for Cassie is really messy and toxic... The main message of the show is literally " we all make bad decision, but nonetheless we're able to improve ourself. We should be less judicious towards others and ourself". But most people apply this message on everyone but Cassie.
We all know Cassie has her fair share of mistakes, but its so overlooked that Nate is a manipulative person, not just with Maddy. We should remember that Cassie was deeply depressed and fragile, she felt empty and lonely, i personally think that Nate took advantage of her vulnerability to forget his feelings.
I cant understand how so many people underestimate his influence on Cassie while Maddy has INCRIMINATED an INNOCENT person only to protect Nate.
Also, i found the Lesley's play down straight cruel and humiliating to Cassie, because for me it was done with no particular moral intent, but mostly with envy. This is pure slutshaming for me.
I think that season 2 was too ipocrite with the initial message and i hate the way Cassie has been represented. The narrative is really too ambiguous with her, because it begans to make her look like a ridiculous villain instead of a more real and complex character. We have all forgive Rue, even though she had ruined her family's life, she used to be manipulative and a liar, because she was obviously hurt. And likewise happens with every other characters. So why people can't even try to empathize a little with what Cassie is going through? This seems kinda misogyny to me...ops

I don't want to excuse Cassie for what she did, but people seem to be so desensitized with Nate and think he's only doing what's expected of him that they end up forgetting that he's the biggest problem here. Realistically, I would react the same way Maddie did, because Cassie broke her trust and if someone you bonded with so much just broke your trust and got with your ex-ABUSIVE boyfriend, that would deeply hurt you, but Nate needs to take responsibility for his actions as well, not just Cassie. He ain't even facing any consequences despite being so much of a jack-ass. He only got beaten once meanwhile Cassie always needs to take blame even before this entire incident. Plus, people seem to forget about Cassie's passion for ice skating. Instead of making season 2 about her trying to find herself after all the heartbreak, regaining her love for ice skating and pursuing it. I know that putting her together with Nate creates more drama, making it more interesting to viewers and that's what they want, but it's also kinda demeaning to Cassie as a person. I'm being way too invested but like I'm just kinda sad, I wanted Cassie to grow but her world only fell apart, and yes she did questionable things in the past, I don't excuse any of her wrongdoings but the point is wanting to see her grow and since she's literally just a character so I believe they could have molded her differently. Also like someone said, her true love doesn't have to be a man, it could be anyone, it doesn't have to be romantic. As long as it helps her grow and uplifts her, helps her become a better person, then that's who you can consider her true love. It's so sad to see Maddie and Cassie pitted against each other; "Bitch you're my soulmate"😭😭😭

@ahanaroychoudhuri I don't want to excuse Cassie for what she did, but people seem to be so desensitized with Nate and think he's only doing what's expected of him that they end up forgetting that he's the biggest problem here.
