Jesus said he was sent to fulfill the prophecies of the old prophets; that's all. all the old ways are inferior to the incomprehensible made comprehended (apparently) by Jesus; by his sacrifice, he saves all of humanity from sin, thus eliminating the need for the old ways entirely. though, apparently, no one really believed him, not truly.
