On the distributed vs AoN armour debate I think in the 12 in gun era when a secondary plate of something like 7 or 8 inches could maybe stop an 11 or 12 in shell at long range maybe there was something to it but once people are rocking 14-18" guns where all a 7" plate is going to do is make sure it arms the fuse they are a liability
