I had to go on disability with a bad heart at about 55. That led to foreclosure, bankruptcy and facing that I would not be back working and making good money. Disability led to actual early retirement. It's not been the best times, but I am now in good health and in many ways better than I was physically and mentally. Also, I did work long enough and now I can live on my retirement. All my elders have passed and many by my age. My kids are grown and on the heir own and grandkids are busy with their lives. I would love to be around my grandkids or better yet, them around me, but that's not happening and they are spread apart thousands of miles. I really am at a point that I could do without responsibilities, especially the ones that drain my bank account. If I can swing things, my home is worth considerably more now and between selling everything and banking it and living off my income, it's my turn.
