Kiev is not a reliable source BBC. They are lying weasels who lie then lie about lying. Reporting their claims uncritically makes you complicit in their lies and reduces your credibility if that's possible at this point. Then you double down on that by claiming it was a trap for Russians when it was clearly a trap for Ukrainians, sent to their slaughter by a very nasty regime headed up by an idiot.
