  1. Despite all the crowing about "Putin's failure" etc. it's becoming apparent that the Syrian army just gave up under orders from their top brass. That was the root cause of the failure, nothing to do with the Russians who were intent on resisting. That said Syria is now a total political vacuum which is very likely to go the same way as Libya.
