Ukraine was finished in summer 2022, foreign aid saved them from collapse. They never had any chance of winning.

@JonSmith-wg8mr Mearsheimer predicted what would happen in 2015. Ukraine is not destroyed, the Russians don't want to have to rebuild it all. That's another reason why they have gone for attrition. They want to destroy the military but not the civilian infrastructure. If they were out to destroy Ukraine it would all look like Gaza rather than just a few fortified cities.

@whisky3822 Ukraine has had a lot of Western aid and support and the initial Russian force was actually outnumbered 3:1. It was really just intended to get Zelensky to negotiate. A deal was struck and Russia pulled back from Kiev. But this was blocked by Biden (Blinken, Sullivan, Nuland) and Boris Johnson. So the Russians switched strategy and focussed on capturing the Donbass and eliminating the Ukrainian military while building their forces. NATO assistance and constant urban conflict has made that a long process.

Trump is doing the best for the USA which is what Biden should have. The war could have been avoided just by making it clear that Ukraine will never join NATO.
