So if I pinch someones cash, I can put it in the bank and use the interest? I'm pretty sure that's not right. Stealing Russia's foreign assets will lead to financial problems for us.

@pinky6758 The theory is that if the Russians assets are effectively stolen, other countries will be reluctant to deposit theirs. Interesting that just yesterday the Saudis declined to renew the Petrodollar deal. The other Russian sanctions have also eroded confidence in the Western financial system. Particularly the banking and exchange sanctions. "If they can do it to Russia they can do it to us"
