I don't see Russia struggling in any way at all. Ukraine's ability to fight is rapidly dwindling. We see that with the bodged offensive. Their troops were not up to the job because they were all green with a token training in places like the UK. They got slaughtered for no strategic gain. If NATO got directly involved they would lose too in my opinion. The Russian air defence system is the best in the World and their army must be number one by now as well.

@christophernicolson5086 If it's so easy why haven't they done that? Even with NATO intelligence and surveillance support they made a total mess of the offensive. They hoped the Russians would retreat but they didn't and the poor Ukrainians grabbed off the street a few weeks previously got slaughtered.

@piersgriffiths1538 We've had a year and a half of Russia losing but they seem to be stronger than when they started. The winning side has no normal 155mm shells remaining and has to use borderline war crime munitions instead. Now that seems to be a farce to me.

Sorry guys the truth hurts. NATO isn't coming to save you - it can't. The Admiral is banking on Russia not engaging NATO vessels. This is not a sound bet in my view. I firmly believe Russia are not at all afraid of a conventional war with NATO they are only concerned about escalation to a nuclear conflict.

@danieljames2015 Ok say Pooty's plane gets intercepted on route, despite diplomatic immunity, what do you think the result would be genius? Also takes pressure off the South Africans who would no doubt be penalised if they didn't arrest him.

@christophernicolson5086 They don't have any time left. They couldn't do it therefore they have lost. At the same time Germany has 20,000 shells in it's stockpiles, enough for an afternoon for the Russians - NATO has also lost. The UK army could do precisely nothing against the Russians in Ukraine. The army is only good for counter-insurgency wars of choice. So time to stop all the hubris and let reality hit. Russia can take as much of Ukraine as it wishes and we can't do anything about it.
