@miket1783-j5j When the Earth is not in an ice age (as we are at present) the poles are ice free. This is an interglacial period when the planet warms up for a while before the cold returns and the UK is under a mile of ice. In any case we assume the poles are warming up faster than the equator so the temperature gradient is less, hence less weather.
