President Trump said Ukraine could have negotiated a peace deal, which they actually did in April 2022. But instead of implementing it they decided to fight.

@moneymay6324 So the decision was Zelensky's then. The Russians even pulled back from Kiev as agreed with Zelensky.

@esteemedyams That's not what happened. The Russians were massively outnumbered at the time and were only trying to get the Minsk accords implemented. Zelensky was convinced by Boris Johnson that Ukraine could bring down Russia and he would be a hero. The vainglorious little squirt believed him unfortunately.

@esteemedyams My last reply was censored. This is exactly what JD Vance was talking about in his historic speech at the MSC. The Russians only wanted Minsk implemented, Zelensky and the West have forced them to annex territory.
