  1. More happy talk from Ben. The Ukrainian military is close to collapse and there is no chance of them retaking Crimea. The Russians have systematically degraded their extensive Soviet era air defenses and only now is it safe for Russian fighter bombers. These are now being deployed with 500kg and 1500kg precision bombs against the Ukrainian defenses.

  2. The last 2 days, which appears to be the start of the counteroffensive, has been an unmitigated disaster for Ukraine. Leopard tanks destroyed and 2000 Ukrainian soldiers.

  12. Only heavy losses on the Ukrainian side. They are massively outgunned and Ukrainian logistics are critically impeded by Russian artillery and terrible ground conditions.

  14.  @sababugs1125  The deal in April was recognition that Crimea was Russian, autonomy for Donbas, protection for Russian culture and language throughout Ukraine and neutrality so no NATO. That was unacceptable to Biden, Blinken, Nuland, Sullivan, Johnson, Stoltenberg, Van Der Leyen etc. Ukraine may well lose Odessa now though.

  15.  @sababugs1125  What sources do the media use? Do they go round counting corpses? Common sense says the side with a lot more guns and shells will be doing better than the side with a lot less.

  16.  @sababugs1125  The first phase was really a bluff and a method to get Zelensky to the negotiating table. The second phase was mainly a pause to allow for the mobilization. The third phase has only just started. Also one has to think of the economic part of the hybrid war. They had to stabilise their economy.
