@The_Savage_Wombat ... in my view the Russian fortifications were not implemented to stop a Ukrainian offensive. We can see how useless that has been. Rather they are there to grind up either a NATO offensive or one by a "coalition of the willing". The nutcase Tobias Elwood was suggesting the British Army should get directly involved. The army told him they only could field 40 tanks and he should STFU.

@brobinson8614 Russia is easily winning. There was never a chance they could lose militerally - even Obama acknowledged that ("escalation dominance"). So they could only lose economically, diplomatically or politically. Despite the Wests best efforts the Russian economy is doing far better than the Eurozone and particularly Germany so that's a big win. Diplomatically most of the World supports Russia and are sick of the USA hegemony - just look at them all queuing up to join BRICS. Politically the big hope was for a coup to depose Putin and send him for a show trial in the Hague. I think we saw that scenario fizzle out recently. So no Ukraine and NATO are not remotely winning.
