  2. "Behind the curve on aircraft and powerplant development"? The Ki-83 fighter. 430 mph. 2200 mile range. Ceiling over 40,000 ft. 2 x 2200 hp engines. Maneuverability equal to the best single engine fighters. Doesn't sound too far behind the curve to me. Could have made dog food out of the Grumman cats.
