  2.  @oldbloke204  Sorry, but no hillbilly here. I'm well educated, well travelled, and well aware that the US is not the center of the universe, as some of my ignorant countrymen believe. But in this case, I'm responding to an earlier comment that the Mirage was what the Hustler "wanted to be". No, it wasn't. Although a maintenance nightmare, the Hustler was much superior in performance and capability to the Mirage, mainly just because of its bigger size.

  3.  @oldbloke204  Meaning what? Published combat ranges of aircraft are always listed at the maximum, including drop tanks. The range of the Hustler without a tank is still greater than the range of the Mirage IV with or without tanks. The Hustler needed refueling to get from the US to Russia; the Mirage needed refueling just to get from France to Russia.
