The US does not like the fact that the former republics of the USSR are again moving into the orbit of Russia, and thus the West is losing its influence in the Caucasus, so they threaten sanctions and interfere in the internal affairs of Georgia. There is no need for Russia to invade a friendly country. If Georgia maintains neutrality and reasonable economic relations with Russia, then it will prosper, and no US sanctions can prevent this.
