Another edit: in case you do need to chop up a video and put it through Adobe Premiere Elements (I didn't know it had a one-time price instead of a subscription, seems tempting indeed!), your output settings might have a very high bitrate setting resulting in the huge file. Your son would probably be able to fix this relatively easily!
