When I became single half a year ago, after 5,5 years of relationship, I was quick to download a couple of these apps not necessarily to immediately do things but initially just out of curiosity about how this stuff works. Cool to see that a lot of my suspicions are in line with what you actually found out, bottom line is do NOT let this shit get to your self esteem, always remember it's the algorithm working against you (and remember the apps' developers have an incentive to keep you on there)
