rond 1920 begon het een beetje leefbaar te worden, als je erg rijk was, maar ga maar eens een maand in de omstandigheden van een arbeider leven, dan piep je wel anders.

If you were a white heterosexual male it was pretty good. Female, hm a bit less, black? Tough luck, gay? Forget it.

they probably had some amendment in the constitution for that......

Visit Europe for cool city life. Not that europeans are better by nature, they also wanted cars and tried to destroy the cities, but since the cities were much older, ancient or medieval there just wasn't enough room for all those cars, so they were forced to upgrade trams and trains (and bicycles) and now have great city centers. And the best thing is, it's even better for cars too, because they have less traffic jams. You are not forced to use the train, you can just chose the best option for your situation.

@boonyee4421 why did they lose that advantage I the 1970s? Today most of it looks like a dump compared to modern european and asian cities.

@bobwallace9814 over a long time. that's the sad thing, it can be good for the individual yet slowly ruin the whole society in the long run because it;s not sustainable. but don't take my word for it, research it if you are interested.

@Voltomess meanwhile, you have to pay millions US $ (or EU €) for buildings from the 1700s, 1800s in London , Paris and Amsterdam. They are still the same old buildings, but well kept and modernized inside.

@ripaccount-n2x of course there is some crime in NYC, there is crime in every metropole. But relative, NY is pretty safe these days

it wasn't rare, in fact all european imperialist powers forced china into trading in the 20th century, until Mao kicked them out eventually

It always puzzles me how all americans in these videos comment how good it was, and how they love trains and good food and clothes and stuff etc, yet together they have done nothing but vote for people who took it all away for 60 years, and don't come to me with 'Dems did that.. Reps did that.. THEY both did! YOU did! You kept voting for greedy politicians who let the car industry destroy the infrastructure and replaced it with a car only society. you kept eating fast food 7 days a week so proper food got replaced by endless rows of Mcdonalds and Wendys and Taco Bells.. You kept buying cheap trash for clothes and other household items so that good manufactured stuff got replaced by china crap and only the very rich can still buy quality. It's really sad.

because they are basically still the same roads , with only minor maintenance carried out in 75 years. That's why your country needs those bazillionmillion stimulus packs that the government is trying to get through congress

my great-great-granddad could be randomly in the first clip, his house was at the Hereweg and he held office in the city center. But in 1919 he was too posh (and old) to ride a bicycle to work, he would take the tram or an early car.

why are all arab comments either religious or about women in bags? are that the only things the arab man can think about? no wonder that part of the world is such a mess
