@MrZebeda The key point was in this lady's answer: there are 10 other churches in a mile radius for people who prefer a more traditional church. She is doing just a secular variant of church for the growing number of people who appreciate that. it's a world wide (at least in the developed world) trend.

Hi Nick, I hope you can escape your mad country some day. I fear it's beyond salvation. But there will always be place for well educated sane Russians who speak English here. Especially if you are young and can find a job.

@samuelgard2824 people die for false things all the time through history. you can genuinely believe something that is not true. Another thing, ghese martyr stories have no historical evidence and could just be propaganda by later christians. but even if they happened that is no proof for a god. You doing science is no proof either, it just means you have some other reason (emotional reason) for your faith, because logic has nothing to do with it.

christianity has always been a religion for the poor and oppressed , from roman times on. part of the doctrine is that you will be rewarded in heaven for your hardships on earth. It is sad that the chinese government still persecutes believers, but that doesn't make any religion true, it just shows that chinese government is bad.

Yes they do, they have been passive, ignorant, cowards for all their lives. Who would rather look away from all the crimes of their government instead of changing it when it was not too late. They cheat at everything, at sports, politics, trade.. The few of them that are brave enough to protest are being beaten up , imprisoned or even killed and the rest kept looking away....

Russia was always a rather weak country, that only with MASSIVE sacrifices of its own people could keep up appearances , posing as something more. Crippling it's own economy on the go. Basically, for 100 years russians had to work under bad conditions , first to chase the communist dream, which turned out to be a nightmare and later to make the olichargs richer...

They should be fighting this war, but the war against their government.. all the new recruits should immediately steal all the weapons and supplies they can get hold of, form partisan groups and kill everybody that tries to stop them. when a civil war breaks out, putin's regime will collapse within weeks and the ukraine war as wel.
