  3. I stayed hundreds of nights and days in a castle. Castles are so common here that my family actually rented one as a holiday home for 30 years. (and we are not rich) ok it was not big, but it was a real one, from the 1600s, with towers, a moat (with water!) and a bridge. it was a bit in disrepair, thats why the rent was very cheap and 3 generations of us visited as often as possible (we also shared the costs between the extended family members. I loved it as a child, but we had to let it go when the renovation costs were too high and the owner had to sell it to somebody with millions to fix it. it looked Exactly like the 1st white one you showed, except much smaller, about 1/3rd the size edit, just saw more footage , make that 1/8th the size. we went there on school holidays and often just the weekends. you could play in the forests and on the water, but the land around was public grounds, open to anyone, basically a park. we kids, told many a ghost story on those stays, to scare our little sisters, and it had plenty of nooks and crannies to explore, 4 cellars and at least 5 attics... but other than that it was just a normal, yet very big house, but old fashioned, without modern comforts. we still had to use coal and wood to heat it, and the bathroom situation was never developed beyond the 1950s. it was incredible fun. as a child I didn't know how lucky we were.

  5. To give a comparison: my rental house in the Netherlands is HALF the price with DOUBLE the space, so you could say 4 times as cheap..... but it's an ordinary 1980 house in a medium sized city, not a 17th century canal house......

  7. As for the 1240 date. The company brewing Leffe is not that old, but the history of the beer really goes back to the those times. In medieval Europe many (or even most?) breweries were controlled by monks in Abbeys. it was a method for the clergy to raise some money for the Abbey. the abbey of Leffe was founded in 1152, and the brewery came under their control in 1240. Over the centuries it switched ownership many times. Nowadays most of these ancient brands are controlled by the large multinationals. (But not all, some are still original run by monks)

  8.  @mfee2079  of course not, because a) we are calculating deaths per 100,000 inhabitants and not totals. and b) USA is 28 times the size, for only 5 times the population, so less people per acre. So that would lead to higher numbers of accidents instead of lower numbers..... americans are just bad drivers, driving more dangerous heavier cars

  12. Americans are brainwashed by advertisements and the SUV / Truck ads sell a higher seating and viewing position 'for safety' I would feel much safer in a Volvo, Benz, BMW or Toyota wagon, but that's just me

  13. I am on the same latitude, it was mind blowing when I learned we are at the same latitude as Winnipeg or Calgary, yet we have like 2 days of snow a year instead of 5 months... another fun fact... some US southern states are at the latitude of Egypt.......

I don;t think he understands many of these concepts, like the right to roam doesn't mean we go trespass in other peoples areas, close to their house, barns in their gardens etc. It just means that it is ok to walk over somebody farmland or wood area without there being a specific official hiking trail with signs etc . Basically, if your actions could look sketchy, like you could steal something, or you are just very nosy without reason, you don't do it.

  16.  @dbclass4075  you don't need to enforce new test on current drivers, just make the rule that any NEW driver has to do a stricter test, these will be mostly teenagers, who can easily adapt and learn better driving. just as our teenagers do here in europe. voters are not so involved this way and the result will improve every year as old drivers die off and get replaced by better ones, it will take decades but it will be decades of improvements, doing nothing is decades of stagnation or decline,

BUT that isn't always a bad thing, sometimes it means you can skip a few obsolete steps and jump right to the current cutting edge tech. I have seen some really advanced mainstream things in eastern europe.

  21. I never saw an Unimog until yesterday, i was visiting the German city Düsseldorf and we took the tram. Another tram broke down and we had to get off one stop early, on the way back I saw this Mercedes thing haul the defunct tram back to wherever they repair these things. because of your channel i realized it must have been this Unimog thing, and I was able to take a nice picture

Many other nations have proven it can be done, from South Korea to Estonia... I would be happy to buy Polish windows if have the finances to build a house here in the West.

  34. that's one reason, but I (european) think it's fair to say they WERE ahead in a lot of things , but that was more in the 1950s-1980s.. Since the 21st century other parts of the world have caught up or even surpassed them in some ways

  35.  @dilianaran6845  in my country 20k is becoming normal for a new bathroom, even with basic materials. everything is expensive, houses are expensive. the house is 400k for a small city house. things like new bathrooms or kitchens move up in price with the housing prices. You can't negotiate lower prices because the workers have 100 more jobs in their schedule, there is an insane shortage of workers. Why do you think those Poles come here? They work hard, make a bundle and buy their own house in Poland.

  38. I like Lidl too, we have both in the Netherlands . I often buy home and garden stuff there, when I need something that I don't use often, it's good value for money. (when I use it all the time, I will rather buy a more expensive item.

  42. This year, we got self scan checkouts in our local Aldi and Lidl (another German low cost competitor) I like that, because the long waiting line sometimes was a reason for me to not shop there and rather go to a 'normal' store with more staff
