Basically with Australia, its at their discretion, not yours so if they deem it in the country's best interests they'll refuse to let you renounce. Until the '2020 thing' is over and the place returns to the old normal (not gonna ever happen) they aren't permitting renouncing citing "State of Emergency" - my neighbour told me this is what he was told when he looked into it (he was going to leave but is stuck due to restrictions). Also with the travel bans - even if you're allowed to leave, if you're under 50 and highly skilled you'll be required to return or face arrest and prosecution for breach of contract (exemption contract) if you don't return so given you have to return, you can't renounce.
