  1. As someone who's moved a lot, when the rental is over, having to move everything is painful. If you can simply have a place or two and can afford to do so, why not. Most people who spend 3+ months at a time in a location will accumulate books, pots, pans, etc. why have to pack and move, ship that stuff everywhere. Everytime that stuff crosses borders that export duty and import duty. In most of Europe an apartment is only around $120,000-$180,000 which is nothing compared to the price of a house in Australia or New Zealand ($1 million+)
