Hate to say it but they can do it literally over night. Most people are already used to tapping their card to pay and as such very few places still accept cash, ATM's are disappearing - they last few years helped as they justified it over "spreading the thing" concerns. How they will likely do it over a weekend: * Close the banks on a Friday morning citing "IT issues", dump the banks databases to CSV files (more reliable and compatible than SQL dumps across many versions of SQL, plus reordering CSV is easy and the CSV handlers run much faster being an older simpler technology) and import them into a govt controlled ledger. * Announce to the public over the weekend that all welfare is going 100% digital and that in order to do so, all money will be going digital. * Reassure everyone that their money will be converted at a rate of 1-to-1 and to not worry. * Announce exchange points to convert remaining cash and bank notes into CBDC. * Lastly they'd push out an update to their "Service [State name or Country name]" app (i.e. Service NSW, Service Vic, etc.) with the CBDC part enabled. This app and its equivalents are already used for digital licences, welfare, public healthcare status and for electronic payments in the "Digital Wallet" section. All the CBDC code is already in the govt apps which is why they're so large, all that's not visible is the button to access the functionality but that will appear either though an update or if the app can reach a specific predetermined server (the latter is more likely as that would avoid having to have an update successfully roll out to millions of people). The point is they won't give you a choice, just like the last few years, they'll just do what they want to. Those who resist will be locked out of the system and likely locked up in one of the many "quarantine" facilities they built or in the prisons they've also built over the last few years and are continuing to build. They don't care about pretending to keep capitalism, in Australia they've literally said that they're "rebuilding capitalism" by replacing it with socialism as they claim that "socialism has conquered capitalism" and that "the future has never been brighter but we need socialism to succeed". They're more evil than people give them credit for. The time to act, be it leave, protest, lobby or fight is now, not tomorrow. If you don't like the way things are going, don't wait for others to do something because they will wait until its too late. Educate those around you about it, show them evidence from official sources to support what you're saying. If that fails or if you just don't want to fight it, leave to "greener pastures". In terms of Australia and Canada, both countries are completely lost to the mindless sheep who think socialism is great - it always ends in failed communism; anyone in Australia, New Zealand or Canada who has a brain will leave to "live to fight another day" because there's no way to fight when the majority want things to continue the way they're going. Change only occurs when the majority want it. There's no point staying and being self-destructive by trying to fight and going broke and then not having the option to leave. As the old saying goes "its better to leave a day too soon, than a a day too late; leave early and you can always return, leave late and you'll perish".

@kellysouter4381 They're doing it through myGov Digital Identity (a parallel system), and yeah its rolling out this year. Need a group certificate for taxes - you need to use this system. Its already mandatory. Have a director ID? They've already got your entire personal information and will force you to give the same info for their digital ID. Nothing to improve or change. They only have to shut down myGov as its the old antiquated system. Everything in myGov already exists in myGov Digital Identity - they just haven't enabled it all yet.

Even if it would encourage it, it won't happen. Like over the last few years, harsh penalties, people being compliant and others "doing their part" by ratting people out to snitch lines will take care of that. Its already illegal to trade or barter (because the govt don't get to tax the trade or barter) in the entire western world (except remote parts of Alaska), even currently people getting caught trading or bartering do end up in jail. The media just don't cover it.

@lukyluky864 For the govt it is easy. They have records of transactions in most of the western world, security footage - even if shops won't provide it, the govt has cameras outside all bullion dealers. They also can go door to door. Plus they'll offer huge rewards to those who rat people out. Assuming you can avoid all that, how are you going to use it without being caught out having a "near endless" supply of money whilst others are starving? They'll work out how you're affording the essentials when they aren't permitting you to have them. Outside the USA, its absolutely easy for the state to confiscate anything they want.

Outside the USA, rounding up bullion and having the general public rat everyone out is absolutely easy and was proven over the last few years as 99% are compliant sheep who do what the govt tells them to. As I said before, how are you going to survive with spending bullion whilst everyone else is barely surviving - you'll be the only person who's not starving and thus making yourself a target. Sure you could stash away food and rotate it like most preppers but even that still carries the same problem as bullion - you'll stand out from everyone else and thus make yourself a target. I can also tell that you didn't read what I wrote and only put a "default" emotional response because you don't like your safety illusion being questioned or critiqued, because, at no point have I ever been pro-crypto - I fucking hate crypto because it is the problem - it is the CBDC just before the code get forked and turned into CBDC. Why the fuck are you assuming I have crypto? I don't and never will. I ask you again - how are you going to keep your bullion hidden but somehow trade for food without using it? How are you going to avoid not looking starved when everyone else looks like that? How are you going to explain having so much with a near endless source of wealth whilst everyone else has nothing? How are you going to keep your neighbours from ratting you out? Over the last few years, neighbours were ratting people out over the slightest breech of the mandates? If they're starving and think that you aren't, they'll rat you out for an extra food ration.
