Regarding lights on vehicles. In Australia I'm noticing that most of the new EV's and Hybrids are breaking the Australian Design Rules (ADR) as they don't have the legally required lights or the lights are too small if present. Indicators Either only on the side fender of the vehicle so on-coming traffic can't see it until the vehicle starts to turn, OR, its a tiny dot hard against the "radiator" part of the front of the vehicle and is barely visible as its dull and only a few tiny LED's. Also, some don't have rear indicators so you have no way of knowing if the vehicle in front is turning until you can see their front side fenders. Some have tiny rear indicators inside the rear brake light and as a result, when the brake lights are on the indicator is impossible to see. Brake Lights Many have the centre only, OR two very low ones mounted in the very bottom of the rear bumper (flush with the bottom edge) and they're very dull and small. Some have none. Headlights Most vehicles are running highbeams in built-up areas which is 100% illegal as it genuinely blinds on-coming drivers, especially on side streets. All modern vehicles can easily geo-fence that function from being used in built-up areas but they don't. Many vehicles illegally permit the driver to set the "low beams" to be the same as high beams and direct them at the on-coming traffic. ALL headlights are meant to be aimed down and forward with the high beam function only tilting the light up without it moving to pointing forward (i.e. it still has to be aimed to the left side). Why is the govt is letting all this BS happen? Because they forced manufacturing out of the country by making the place hostile (laws, taxes, over regulation, etc.) and because the regime (sorry... govt) are 100% set on only having EV's (and some hybrids for remote areas) in the country. As such the only EV's are the ones coming from places like China where they have huge numbers waiting to be sold but no one bothers to care if they meet the ADR.
