@maskofsan1ty At lower speeds there is no flow because the increased congestion brings everything to a halt. They're doing the same shit in Australia and the roads are getting exponentially worse. The govt response is "walk or ride a bike, don't drive" even though they know that those aren't valid options. Ever since they made the highway run-on's 80km/h and the highways themselves 100km/h the congestion has gotten much worse - and that's with the same number of vehicles. Then factor in that they are reducing speed limits annually as part of the 'climate agenda' and the whole thing is a sick joke - nothing about safety, its 100% about trying to get you to stay home forever. Oh and from 2025 the highways get dropped to 80km/h and then 60km/h from 2026 onwards - supposedly because "cars are more efficient at low speeds" (which is a pure lie - modern cars are more efficient at 140km/h which is why the EU has that as the highway speed).

@paulnewman9275 They doing the same BS in Australia even though no one was getting hurt or killed. Suddenly everywhere became 40km/h areas, then the councils announced that in 2025 they're becoming 30km/h areas, 20km/h areas in 2026 and 10km/h areas from 2027 onwards. Supposedly because the streets need to be safe for kids to play in and to be "family friendly". Kids have zero business playing in the streets and its the council who keep letting developers build dogboxes (1 bed units) in stupid numbers on tiny properties, so of course there's no backyard to play in. Also, if kids want to play all they have to do is go to the local park (one every 3 blocks). The other thing they love is speed humps and gutter ditches being installed where they never were. They claim its to "slow people down" but in reality people speed between them, or just buy giant vehicles so they can easily cross them with minimal care. Not to mention, many of the speed humps don't even comply with the speed hump standards and you can't get EV's over the newest lot - the councils response was "don't drive, ride a bike".

@maskofsan1ty that's an outright lie. Decreasing speed results in everyone bunched up and the roads completely congested. When roads have higher speeds you get more speed variation, gaps and traffic flows better. Australia is the proof of that. They lower speed limits to stupidly slow, the total number of vehicles is the same but now the roads are congested. It used to follow just fine when the roads were 60km/h, now that they're 40km/h it's bumper to bumper traffic. Traffic flow is determined by road design and by speed limits, but mostly by speed limits. When you slow everyone to stupidly slow speeds, everyone is bunched up, safe gaps disappear and no one gets anywhere because every road is the same stupidly low limit. Put your "models of how traffic works" down and look at actual traffic. You sound like a moron who's never been in the real world as you think the always failed models somehow work.
