  1. It is a legal term. A witness who has to be forced under oath to testify and is then subject to cross-examination. Their reluctance is not always because they are hostile per se. They may have other reasons to not want to testify.

  2. Trump's continued defiance of law enforcement proves beyond ANY doubt that the equal protection clause under the 14th Amendment means absolutely nothing. He has succeeded in trashing our Constitution in service of his fascist political movement.
