I think a small town/city with a college can be the best balance, but like people, every town, city, state has to be given a chance and taken on their own merits. take care hooptie.

  3. HooptieHamburger but WAY MORE white people are living off welfare than black people, and huge corporation are getting huge subsidies (welfare) to the tune of billions of dollars. Race has nothing to do with the problem. Ever been to southern Utah? 100% white and 95% on welfare. Politicians tell their voters what they want to hear, and blaming the blacks, the gays, immigrants, the women, the liberals etc etc is just how they can blame someone else for their own failure to accomplish anything in this world. Rush Limbaugh does this all day long. Its always someone else to blame when really the truth is far more scary for poor white people. The sad truth is the poor whites (my ancestors) gave their lives in a war that only benefited rich slave owners. Nothing has changed. Do you know what the 20 Negro Law was? Or the Tax in Kind law was? History has a great many things worth studying, and no amount revisionism will change the facts.

HooptieHamburger You also (seem) to be saying republicans have economic policies that improve our economy and decrease unemployment, etc. The actual fact is, the economy and stock market have grown dramatically under the last two democratic presidents and actually nearly imploded under the republican ones. I don't understand how that reality is blurred by some kind of general impression being fed to people through fox or rush or somebody. I own a business, a home and and investments and I have no reason to make up something that is just not true. Things have been much better financially for many Americans under dem leadership. I live in California where the gop is almost extinct, and if we a country, our economy is the tenth largest in the world and growing. Will the dems kill the golden goose and eventually tax us to death? Maybe, and then they will pay at the ballot but for now its all good here.

  5. The economy in california is a nightmare now? This is simply not true. Why would you think that? The jobs that go to texas are mostly dirty industries and low wage. Our biggest problem here is affordable housing which is a serious one. The economy gets better and better which forces out middle class folks.And the studios owners are still California billionaires, they simply set up production units all over the west in canada as they should. The big problem with having to move to some shithole like TX or LA is that you are in TX or LA where the politics are stuck in an earlier century. Smart people know better.

I like Austin, and my friends there ALWAYS remind me it is not like the rest of Texas.I have TX family in some pretty small towns near the OK border and they seem to be all mildly retarded in those parts. We Americans have so much freedom to move around and build our lives most people dont really know how valuable that is. Me I love California because I work in the redwoods and sierra which are like nothing else in the world, and I sail and surf so there's that. I almost married an Arkansas girl, and I know now that was really not meant to not happen!
