  1. As a life-long sailor I find it stunning that there wasn't a simple Epirb on board that could be released to narrow the search zone. That is the most basic safety device found on any weekend charter boat. Accepting the risks but skipping the most basic rescue measure makes no sense - especially when wealthy tourists are paying $250,000 just to ogle at a wreck where 1,500 people died.
