The difference was that blacks were not allowed to assimilate. The central problem here isn't that blacks haven't been wronged, but that handing people money doesn't end poverty, but exacerbates it.

It doesn't matter. With leftists, it's always wealth redistribution. With leftist politicians, it's always expanding state power. If "reparations" gets shot down, they will merely pivot to some other supposed premise to support their forgone conclusion.

@JS-mg1mk If you think blacks were allowed to live in white areas or exercise their constitutional rights in "the north" in 1865, you are delusional. FFS, the beaches in Chicago were segregated into the 1920s.
