  1. Do you remember the film 'Midnight Express'? The protagonist gets sentenced to a few years in a Turkish prison, but then, shortly before his release, the sentence is greatly increased when a new government comes to power. I remember being stunned both that any society would allow such an unfair practice and the insanity of attempting to punish past deeds with current mores. That the school changed this students punishment demonstrates our culture is in serious decline.
