"Contagious fire" refers to the phenomenon of police or soldiers firing merely because they hear gunfire and assume danger. I think what typically happens when 8 cops empty their magazines on a threat is a little more insidious; it is an unspoken pact to not leave any one of them as "the only one who fired". Ironically, it is to avoid exactly the bullshit line of reasoning Ana K used.

@emberfist8347 Please explain how you are certain how one or more of the officers were not using 40 round mags. (If you want to engage in semantics, I'm your huckleberry.) Otherwise, try making a comment about the phenomenon of police officers firing upon suspects solely because they don't want to leave their comrades holding the bag.

@emberfist8347 @Ember Fist Glad to see you stuck to your asinine point. The fact that 14 rounds were fired has exactly zero bearing on the mag capacity. I could fire 14 rounds from a 20, 30, 40 or 100 round drum mag. Regardless, you are wrong, they weren't all using 30 round mags... at least one of the cops was using a pistol.

What's missing from the conversation is that the officers stood in front of the car to block it. Does putting themselves in harms way negate the claim of "defense"? Isn't the very act of attempting to apprehend criminals putting themselves in harms way?

So true. Also, you can totally shoot cops in your house executing a search warrant because they broke in to take your stuff, just like a burglar. Fun fact.
