It was due to the economic problems that China is facing and the CCP is still able to hide. Just look at the small businesses that disappeared and all the money that the big companies had to "donate". You ignore the fact that Evergrande is dependent on investors in China and outside. That will affect not only China's economy but other economies as well. And the real estate bubble in China is huge. When it really bursts, and it will, the CCP will have to either get the tanks and roll over the Chinese again or flee the country.
