  4. The reality that many peoples’ civil rights are being routinely violated is predicated on the fact that those many people violated the law. It is not legal to drive an unregistered vehicle on public streets. Those people know that but they chose not to pay the registration or fix the taillight or whatever and drive anyway. It is entirely in their hands. Also, I hate to bust the bubble but you realize you are accomplishing the opposite of your objective. Police departments all over the country are functioning with significantly reduced numbers. The experienced officers are putting in early and cashing out and the application pools are so low they are LOWERING the education requirements. Meanwhile, crime rates climb. You are pushing us toward Marshall Law as the backlash will be heavy. Congratulations.

Instead of ragging on the cops, why don’t you point your ire at the CRIMINALS among you who drag your image down. Let’s not forget here, we are talking about a minority percentage here. Why not try it from the other side, because this cop bashing is NOT going to get you the results you seek. In fact, quite the opposite. The tide is turning already.

Likely because more black Americans don’t pay their registrations on time than white Americans. That’s it. It’s not a racial thing. It’s a legal thing.

Think about it. You are demanding that police officers be “higher minded”. That requires education, right? But police departments are LOWERING the requirements because cops are jumping ship and no one is applying. All you need is a GED and no convictions. Imagine the pool of candidates. Come on. You’re a lawyer for gods sake. You know the reason for law and it’s enforcement. No one has died from an expired tag and you know it. They died because it was subsequently discovered they were up to no good or had outstanding warrants and resisted arrest. They died because of THEIR OWN actions.

  26. Oh no no no. “The California reparations task force” was created for 2 years to discuss and “come up with a plan” with respect to reparations, to be embodied in a report. That report is due, I believe, June 1, and, as it stands, the “task force” will dissolve on July 1. This is NO WHERE NEAR legislation and, let’s face it, will never be. But Newsome got major traction out of it without having to do anything. Likely, he’ll just extend the task force another 2 years to talk some more.

Try this one, a 911 call comes in that a man is accosting women on the street in a particular area the man has been described as about 6’ tall and wears jeans and a dark blue hoody. You are a cop in that area. You see a guy who appears to be following a woman closely, looking around nervously, etc. Are you going to turn your back? Or are you going to approach the dude, ask some questions, and make sure he ain’t up to no good?? Now imagine the woman the guy was following was your mother? Your sister? Your daughter? You would prefer to wait til the guy actually attacks??

Most officers start around $75k, which in a major urban area is squat. Would you stick your butt out there as a cop for that money? Especially, Don’t forget, every day you know you could go to prison for 25 years for arresting someone who BROKE THELAW and was resisting.
