  61.  @BadTimes1776  Not at all. It’s nice to know there are others who think, study, and try to figure out how to solve. Here’s how I see it. All “sanctuary city” means is that the city told the feds, you can’t commandeer our police force to do their jobs. It really has nothing to do with the current problem. These are ILLEGAL aliens coming across the border, only to be duped and sent to cities around the country with no warning in an effort to make some disingenuous, juvenile, dishonest political stunt. It’s not democrats that created the current Chicago crisis, it’s Gov Abbott of TX. Imagine how much better life would be if the influx of migrants into major non-border cities could have been planned for and not made an emergency by an idiot right wing governor. What gets me is the out and our lie the republicans have perpetuated that somehow the democrats asked for this. That’s just plain stupid. Nobody asked for this, but it is happening. People keep saying Send them back where they came from”, except they don’t seem to get that’s not possible or it means death for these migrants. Global warming is fast changing the face of this earth and it is only going to get worse from here. These migrants are just trying to survive. And contrary to popular opinion based on lies spread by the GOP, there is no “open border” in the sense people are being invited. The immigration policies employed today are basically the same as the have been for decades. We have never had a “closed” border, and considering that to the south that is 3,500 miles of border and to the north it’s 5,000, it’s unlikely we ever will. It irks me to no end that republicans perpetuate lies and bitch and bitch about the border, but the truth is, they have done no different and not one of them has the guts to say what they’re really espousing, which is to shoot on sight the men, women, and children trying to cross illegally. It would be the only way. to be cont., And you thought you were long winded. lol

  66.  @BadTimes1776  Sorry, missed this one. LOL. Love the “tranny” anecdote. So representative of our country to day. I understand your frustrations. You know, I’m no spring chicken. I grew up before computers became part of our lives and boy the times they are a changin’. To me, it seems we’ve taken our country’s systems to their natural end. Did you know that 3 people, yes that’s 3 individuals, have more than 50% of the wealth in this country? 10% of our population has 90% of the wealth and the top 1% of that 10% has 90% of that 90%. Staggering, isn’t it? Is this the natural consequence of the pursuit of private wealth? I don’t know. But this country has become so top heavy, I don’t see how it can sustain itself. Meanwhile, we peons squabble amongst ourselves for less and less crumbs, while our so-called elected representatives fill their own coffers and vie for their own positions. Peoples’ trust in all 3 branches of our government is gone with good reason. We have Supreme Court Justices selling their opinions, executive branch members profiting from relationships while in office, and our Congress is just a narcissistic disgrace. We have normalized lying and cheating, discarded the concepts of ethics and integrity, and devolved into myopic, whining, cry babies. It would seem we have come to the end our road. Once trust and common goal is eroded in a democracy, there’s nothing left to hold it together. The question is: Can confidence and common ground be restored? I suppose we’ll see. But it seems clear that America is changing. The world as I knew it growing up is gone. This global migration is not going to stop. In fact, it will intensify with global warming and it has nothing to do with politics. This business about “open border” is just a flat out lie. We have never had a secured border to open or close. Our borders are 3500 miles to the south and 5000 to the north. What we are seeing today is a flood of migrants crossing illegally if a legal way can not be found. Why? Because they are desperate. They come to the border with only what they can carry because they could not stay and survive where they were due to climate change, extreme poverty, and/or violence. It’s not going to stop. I guess my point is that our way of life is changing. I try to remind myself not to resist the change but to go with it. I don’t think we have a choice. We can’t go back. All the bridges are burned. We just have to move forward and try to preserve our humanity and our principles. End of sermon (lol).
