I assume you have in mind the federal sentencing guidelines disparity between powder cocaine and crack. I don’t know how old you are, but if you weren’t around in the mid-80s when crack hit the streets, I gotta tell you, it took hold really fast and just devastated people’s lives. You would see some one in March, and by the next time you saw them in May, they would hardly be recognizable. Had lost everything, we’re homeless, like walking zombies. Not. To mention it turned street violence way up. In response, they upped the ante for traffickers. Dumb idea, but they were trying to curtail the spread of it. Had you been faced with deciding what to do, what would you have done yourself about the explosion of crack?
