Because if you hold those companies liable for the individual decisions and actions of anyone who uses the application, they cannot exist because they couldn’t be profitable. Everyone today seems to think they can have their cake and eat it too. You have to make sacrifices to get what you want. Is it so oppressive to expect people to have personal responsibility? Very sad story, but look at the South Carolina representative’s son who killed himself as a result of a shakedown on instagram. To me, letting the parents sue Instagram for what their son did would be wrong. Who was responsible for that child’s well being? Instagram or his parents? Who was in the best position to stop that child’s behavior? I’m sorry, this pervasive “It’s not my fault” attitude in this country simply CANNOT be sustained. If parents are worried it could happen to their children, DON’T LET THEM USE SOCIAL MEDIA!!! If you catch them doing it, take away the phones, the computers, whatever you have to. Get control of your children! Instead of blaming everyone and everything EXCEPT yourselves and your children!!
