@vaikjsf34a Prigozhin, the one who actually conquered Bakhmut, said it himself 15 months ago in one of his videos that just Wagner Group lost 20 000 soldiers in Bakhmut alone. Prigozhin's words, not mine. Back then you were all saying that Bakhmut is the key to conquer all of Donbas, and that after Bakhmut everything will fall like a domino. Now some 15 months later, we know it was a LIE. Nothing like that happened, and after bloody victory in Bakhmut, that had cost at absolute minimum 20 000 Russian lives (which you totally don't care about, I am sure), Russia didn't move past Bakhmut and didn't conquer all of Donbas, because Bakhmut was not key to anything at all - it was just a meat grinder for both sides, but Ukraine was defending fortified urban area which always gives massive advantage. Russia had to conquer a fortified urban area, which is incredibly difficult and that's why they lost more than 20 000 people. Not just numbers, Humans, with families, friends, love... exactly like you and me. But for an armchair general like you, they are just numbers.

@DailyMusic What you wrote about Crimea and improvement is exactly what Western European imperialism was saying when they invaded all the places around the world. "Those are savages, just look how they neglect their land... since we took it from them, we built infrastructure, education, farming, industry... we taught them manners! ... I think they are better off now than they were before!" ... I hope nobody ever again uses this argument to colonize another country. Besides it being completely morally wrong and abhorent, what people of Crimea lost by being invaded and annexed by Russia is freedom. They were living in a very imperfect and quite poor Ukraine, but they were free, they had real democracy to vote for the people who represent them. After being annexed by Russia, they can no longer speak freely ("discrediting Russian military" among other things), they cannot have vocal opinion that goes against their government, and they cannot vote for their representatives. This cannot be compensated by any amount of money.

@DrMemesYT You: "Who said that Russia was going to take Kyiv in 3 days?"
-- Food and fuel rations on invading Russian soldiers. RIA Novosti article that got accidentally published on their website... and pretty much most of western and Russian analysts said that. It wasn't entirely unreasonable if you expect that you are so large and so powerful, attacking 30x smaller country with 1/3 the population and 10% of your military budget - that the government will run away, military will fold and everyone will just give up against such overwhelming odds. That's why even western analysts were expecting Kyiv to fall in 3 days without significant fighting. The problem is not that Russian's thought that, the problem is that in their typical Russian arrogance, they didn't make a plan B, what to do if for some reason Ukraine goes on a stubborn suicidal fight back. Government didn't flee, military decided to actually fight back even against such odds, and people started to gain self-confidence and national pride (nobody did more for Ukrainian national pride and unity than Russia). Then entire West rallied behind Ukraine and at that point it wasn't 3 days to Kyiv but "impossible to win for Russia against collective West" (West is 67% of world's economy, Russia is just above 1%; NATO is 1 billion people, Russia is only 0.14 billion; some people do not realize how ridiculously one-sided NATO vs Russia is; 141 countries out of 180 voted against Russia in the UN and only 4 voted with Russia (Belarus, Eritrea, Syria and North Korea), it was obvious at that point that there is absolutely no possiblity for Russia to win this in any way - the west will not allow it).

@natebox4550 You are right. I completely forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me.
(which brings me to other things we have forgotten and shouldn't have, like: "Kyiv was just a feint, Russia will now win everything" or "Jaws of Russian advance will take entire Donbas" and then "ok, that's not working, maybe smaller jaws" and then they lost entire Kharkiv region "ok, so mini jaws" and then "ok, that didn't work, so maybe 56th largest city in Ukraine called Bakhmut?" and then Tankies were telling us "When Russia gets Bakhmut, they will crack open entire Ukrainian defense and get all of Ukraine / Donbas" ... well, after 10 months and 20 000 dead Wagnerites (Prigozhin's words, not mine), they have Bakhmut... and it helped them exactly with nothing, as usual, it was Tankie bullshit to avoid having negative feelings about reality ... and same way we are being told right now that "Ukraine is losing the counter-offensive, Russia practically won, Ukraine will collapse in 3 weeks" ... from the same people who told us everything I wrote above)
