@lisaconnor3075 While all your points are true in principle, I have to add one anecdotal case. I was born and grew up in totalitarian communist country under military occupation from Russia. That wasn't just "authoritative regime", that was brutal repressions, people disappearing, no political rights, no freedom of speech, and you can't even leave the country - it is not allowed, you will get shot. If you manage to sneak out somehow your entire extended family gets punished for a generation. You cannot imagine how I wished someone from the West would come and save us. Now we have corporations and the exploitation you are talking about, and it's so much better than what we had back then. Yes, greedy corporate capitalism is exploitative in nature, but you are at least still free, you can run away, you can do something. In a dictatorship, you cannot do anything, not even leave, you don't own your life.
