  1. It's not the same, but a related problem. The problem is the axiome of choice yielding badly behaved subsets, which leads to measures not having the desired properties. So what you have to do in the case of uncountable sets is to define your measure only on some of it's subsets: for example the sigma algebra generated by the closed intervals in the real numbers.
