  1. The question is nonsense. There's no objective notion of being "close" to absolute zero. You might as well ask why life is extraordinarily hot compared to most of the universe.

  2. Physics doesn't make sense. Spacetime gradient doesn't do anything special, but curvature does. Velocity doesn't do anything special but acceleration does.
