  1. She said that to comfort you. When parts of your brain stop working we see people perceiving less, being able to do less, having total changes in their personality. To believe that some person is restored after the brain is destroyed completely is madness. What version of you should that even be? At the end of our lives we are different people than as teenagers. Do demented people stay demented forever? When your brain stops working, you are gone and when it decays you stay gone forever. No gods, aliens or whatever can bring you back then. So do whatever you need to do now. Everything you don't write down or tell someone else will be lost.

  3.  @pompi8229  You prevent depression by building resilience, not by burying your head in the sand and hoping nothing will disturb you. Because something will come for sure. I can in principle see the case for utilitarian self delusion, but the scope is just far too great when you deny the reality of death itself.
