  1. That would be a great idea if it were not fundamentally unpractical. Imagine what it would mean if you had to point your device at a light source to receive WiFi all of the time. Not very pleasant, hm? We already use light signals in glass fiber and there is a reason we want our WiFi to extend through objects. If anything this "LiFi" is an extension of the Ethernet, not a replacement for WiFi.
