I literally have no fucking clue what my OS does with all of the software and dependencies and shit. I just do as the developers of the software tell me and Ubuntu saves all of that stuff somewhere.

  25. When you put in a USB stick, it should simply pop up and external drives should show up seperately in the file explorer anyways. But yeah, if you don't know what you're doing, you can quickly make a complete mess out of your folders in windows, while Linux is typically used in a way as to void that.

  29. Maybe I'm not a "power user" or sth, but I don't know what "learning" an OS is supposed to be. I install the OS, I install my software and then I don't have to think of the OS ever again. Some things are more comfortable in Linux, some things only work in Windows. In the end it only matters to me what the developers of the software I use support best.

Not sure how all of this is implemented, but I thought the terminal was exactly the same thing as the GUI just with less info on the screen (and more options directly available due to commands). So when I double click a text file, the OS does precisely the same as if I had entered "editor textfile.txt".

  36. Sounds like the only thing dumb here is your criticism. The only real problem here is when the gun doesn't recognize you. The important situation here is when you have the gun in your holster and someone else pulls it, taking you by surprise. If the gun can prevent that, that's a HUGE deal. Yes, guns are the great equalizer and when you're strapping, a smaller, weaker person can kill you if they're taking your gun.

  38. There's a bunch of software that doesn't run on windows or is a pain in the ass to install. Also if you're not some sysadmin type that's in love with his computer, ubuntu is every bit as straightforward as windows 10. Usually even more, because the recommended way of installing software makes it idiot proof.
